Job Responsibilities
A position is currently available in the Office of Clerk of the House of Representatives for Creative Design/Typography Assistant.
Persons interested in applying for the position must submit a cover letter and resume pursuant to the instructions presented herein.
CDT Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Working with the Creative Design/Typography Manager in producing various documents, booklets, and pamphlets including the Legislative Manual, Legislative Process Pamphlet, Symbols & Emblems Pamphlet, Prayer Booklet, House of Representatives seating chart, House of Representatives roll call sheets, House of Representatives co-sponsor sheets, House of Representatives Committee Composites, Red Book, telephone reference cards, and other materials requiring graphic design, typography, and creative work as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Speaker of the House or the Clerk of the House.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
- The CDT Assistant requires an individual who is patient, willing to learn, self-motivated, works well with others, and has the ability to work independently and in a timely manner to meet deadlines. The CDT Assistant must follow instructions well and be willing and able to work a flexible schedule with late hours sometimes required.
- The position requires an individual who has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Applicants must have the ability to exercise judgment and discretion, be detail-oriented and analytical, and have the ability to organize multiple tasks and set priorities.
- The position requires extensive knowledge and proficiency in the use of Macintosh, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Image Capture, and Canva. Extensive knowledge of Quark Software or the ability to learn to expertly use Quark Software is necessary. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with working knowledge in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is beneficial.
