Job Responsibilities
Responsible for the visual and digital components of the agency's comprehensive strategic communications plan. Creates high quality and compelling visuals tailored for individual platforms while remaining cohesive with the SCDOT branding guidelines. Produces artwork on deadline and manages multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Manages graphics across a variety of digital and print platforms including email marketing campaign, social media, the SCDOT website, and other communications channels. Develops a variety of graphic design products including grant applications, presentations for senior leadership, print and digital materials.
Conceptualizes, designs, and produces artwork, computer files (including scanning), promotional flyers, pamphlets, brochures, handbooks, manuals, posters, certificates, slides, and other requests from SCDOT divisions. Serves as a freelance graphic designer for other agency projects keeping supervisor informed about all projects and initiatives.
Assists Public Engagement staff in producing artwork complimentary to written and video news releases including the production of maps, logos, and other graphics. Must maintain up-to-date knowledge of graphic design techniques, software, and hardware capabilities that would enhance SCDOT's graphic production functions. Coordinates research efforts into all of these areas.
Assists clients in developing and writing promotional copy and artwork from their initial concepts. Writes printing specifications from oral instruction and/or rough copy which may be complex and technical, which are in compliance with state printing rules and regulations.
Works with vendors, including printers and suppliers, to obtain accurate and competitive quotes from vendors. Assists staff with developing budgets for printed and promotional materials. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and one (1) year of relevant experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions includes sitting or standing at a desk for an extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside normal business hours.
