Stella Rising is a nationally recognized marketing and media services agency creating transformative growth for superstar brands in the consumer middle market. As a result of growth, we are seeking a highly motivated SEO Director to join our team. The right candidate must be able to work proficiently in a remote environment but love getting together in person with clients, the team, and at our company-sponsored events. As Director of SEO , you will play a vital role in growth initiatives, client retention, and team management within the SEO department. As one of the most senior team members in SEO, you will lead a team of 15-20 highly skilled and passionate SEO professionals, including 3-5 Associate Directors, SEO Managers, and individual contributors. Your role will provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic guidance to SEO professionals managing campaigns for some of the world’s leading brands. Your regular responsibilities are multifaceted, encompassing client management, people management, resource management, and contributing significantly to client retention, organic growth, and new business development. In client management, you will lead strategy and communication for enterprise clients, execute comprehensive SEO strategies, and manage complex SEO tools for campaign creation, optimization, and reporting. Your people management role involves guiding and training direct reports, enhancing their SEO knowledge and skills, and fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture. For resource management, you will oversee tool budgets, lead the development of new deliverables and processes, and manage case studies and award entries. Additionally, your thought leadership in the field will involve actively seeking speaking engagements, contributing to the company blog, and maintaining a strong presence in social media communities. Regular responsibilities but not limited to: Lead strategy, deliverables, and communication on 1-2 enterprise clients resulting in strong client satisfaction, growth, and retention. Expert experience in all SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog) and ability to leverage advanced capabilities of each platform. Manage and execute the implementation of SEO strategy for all department deliverables (on-page, off-page, and technical SEO). Provide expert analysis of SEO performance metrics in GA4, GSC, and Looker. Provide thought leadership across the team and the agency. Collaborate with development teams on SEO initiatives. Execute SEO Strategies across three pillars of SEO. Hold weekly or bi-weekly meetings with direct reports. Manage 3-5 direct reports at the Associate Director level. Lead renewal conversations and presentations. Attend key client calls, QBRs, and annual reviews to support retention. Required Skills and Qualifications: Mastery in skills and understanding of complex SEO principles. Mastery with SEO tools such as Screaming Frog, Search Console, GA, Looker Studio, Ahrefs, and SemRush. Mastery understanding of how to unpack meaningful insights from data. Mastery in project management skills and attention to detail. Mastery in communication skills, both written and verbal. Mastery in client management skills. Exceptional experience managing e-commerce and lead generation clients. Demonstrated strong conflict resolution and client retention skills.
