Position Overview
MassCEC is looking for a talented student with photography, videography, marketing, communications, and web design skills to help the Marketing and Communication team produce a variety of content. You'll assist our team by supporting initiatives such as filming and photographing events, creating short videos, and collaborating on Canva and Adobe design projects. You’ll also edit and publish blog posts and success stories on the website, prepare for MassCEC’s presence at public events and conferences, and support strategic communications projects. You may work on elements of our consumer-facing Clean Energy Lives Here campaign and assist staff in writing and designing emails and newsletters. You may draft social posts for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X.
You should be available to work from our office in Boston at least one day per week. You'll regularly collaborate with MassCEC staff members who are in the office or working from home. The ideal candidate will be organized, a strong digital storyteller, and be able to work with MassCEC staff to identify outcomes from our programs that would makevisually compelling stories.
The candidate is encouraged to share a small portfolio or a writing sample. This can include an online portfolio, a paper and/or school coursework – you should not create something new, just send us a piece you’ve already written/filmed/photographed/designed.
The internship program at MassCEC includes various educational and networking opportunities, including:
- Lunch-time Tech Talks and Brown Bag Presentations;
- Guided tour of the State House;
- Guided tour of the Wind Technology Testing Center; and
- Industry conferences and events.
Position Qualifications
Education:
- Pursuing or have earned a bachelor’s degree in photography or videography, digital arts, marketing, communications or a related field. Student with previous co-op or corporate office experience preferred.
- Some coursework in Environmental Science and/or knowledge of clean energy a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience capturing, editing and producing video to tell compelling stories,
- Experience taking high-resolution photos for use on all marketing channels,
- Strong oral and written communications skills,
- Strong project management skills,
- Strong organizational skills,
- Strong attention to detail,
- Experience with communications and marketing through various types of social media, including LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and X,
- Willingness and ability to work as part of a team,
- Familiarity with Adobe Suite, Microsoft Outlook, Sharepoint, Excel, Power Point and Word,
- Familiarity with MailChimp, Canva, and website content management systems a plus,
- Interest in public affairs, public policy, environmental/energy issues and/or politics/government a plus,
- Ability to work on deadline in a fast-paced environmentand
- Willingness to travel to events in Massachusetts and capture photos and video (transportation provided by MassCEC).
Supervision
The intern will work under the supervision of Senior Manager of Communications and will work closely with the Content Creation Manager.
Salary
The intern will earn $20 per hour and be eligible to work for up to 40 hours per week.
