The Opportunity
The Senior Manager of Business Development, Marketing & Communications Strategic Initiatives will play a leadership role in advancing initiatives aimed at expanding client relationships, driving demand, and launching new products and services to accelerate profitable revenue growth. They will have high visibility within the BDMC team as well as with professionals firmwide, working across the platform to develop and launch successful revenue-generating initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Development, Marketing & Communications, the successful candidate will lead the development, launch, and execution of cross-disciplinary, revenue-generating initiatives. They will bring a combination of sophisticated business acumen, strategic thinking, and organizational discipline to critical initiatives designed to deliver value to clients and accelerate Manatt's revenue growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiative and Product Development
Conceptualize the development of new Firm product and service offerings; drive a process and framework to support. Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and business development strategies and project plans aligned with Firm goals and objectives. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including potential clients, markets and partnerships. Collaborate with business units across the platform to create targeted marketing campaigns and business development plans. Collaborate with Business Development, Marketing and Communications team members as well as others across the Firm to develop product plans and go-to-market strategies; interface with practice management on pricing and works with Marketing Leadership on general counsel clearance. Monitor and track industry, market and competitive intelligence and key client and target client relationships to position the Firm and its professionals for new business opportunities. Industry, Market and Competitive Intelligence
Collaborate with the Library to gather, analyze and distribute intelligence on competitors services and products, market conditions and clients. REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates have:
Bachelor's degree or higher in related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development within a law firm or similar professional services environment. Substantive knowledge of marketing and business development core competencies, including market research, competitive intelligence, marketing campaigns, client development and sales strategies. Demonstrated experience managing large-scale projects and deliverables with consistent ability to meet deadlines. Strong, results-oriented team player. Forward-thinking, deliverables driven, strategic thinker and self-starter with the ability to balance long-term strategic vision and effective day-to-day execution. Demonstrated success driving high-performance collaboration. Excellent communication skills, including strong writing, editorial and proofreading skills. Exceptional attention to detail is required. Superior client service skills, strong influencing and negotiating skills and an ability to persuade others to deliver is a must. Technologically savvy with demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word. CRM/Salesforce knowledge strongly preferred. Flexibility to travel and work additional hours at short notice as needed to meet department goals is essential. The work will, at times, require extended and irregular hours to perform essential duties. Additional responsibilities, as needed.
The base annual pay range for this role is $160,000 - $185,000. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location and will also take into account internal equity. A full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits dependent on the position will also be offered.
