The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Digital Art. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. This position is a “pool” position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available.Duties and Responsibilities
Teach day and evening sections of art with an emphasis on digital mixed media, two-dimensional drawing and composition, painting, design, color theory, and other selected art classes.Design and implement a digital art laboratory for both fine art and graphic applications.Develop new curriculum in digital art.Modify art curriculum as needed, including student learning outcomes and assessment processes.Consult with students during regularly scheduled office and lab hours.Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies and curricula.Participate as a member of department, division, and college committees.Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needs.Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Master’s or above in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor’s in one of the above AND Master’s or above in humanities OR the equivalent.Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated successful teaching and experience in beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of digital art.Commitment to and belief in an inclusive, collaborative working style/approach to teaching.Demonstrated skills in digital art, two-dimensional drawing and design, figure drawing, painting, portraiture, and other art classes.Demonstrated ability to use online tools to support instruction.The ability to develop instructional learning outcomes and to develop methods for assessing students’ achievement.Conditions of Employment
