SMU Athletics is seeking a qualified candidate to fulfill the Graduate Assistant position for Public Relations. This position reports to the Assistant A.D. for Public Relations. The graduate assistant will assist in all daily operations of the Office of Athletics Public Relations and will serve as primary contact for 2-4 sports as well as gameday responsibilities for football, men’s basketball and/or women’s basketball.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in all daily operations of the Office of Athletics Public Relations.
- Serve as primary contact for 2-4 sports.
- Gameday responsibilities for football, men’s basketball and/or women’s basketball.
- Gameday coverage, compilation of statistics, student-athlete profiles, game notes, game programs, press releases, record & fact books.
- Assist with social media updates/initiatives (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, video previews/highlights, etc.).
- Maintain the department's official website, SMUMustangs.com, and official app.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, Recreation Management, Communications, or a related area of study.
- Acceptance into an SMU graduate program.
- Availability to work home athletic events, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, and peers.
- Strong self-starter with an assertive attitude and attention to detail.
- Experience working in an Intercollegiate Athletic Department - Preferred.
