Position Overview The Western Golf Association (WGA) and Evans Scholars Foundation (ESF) seek an innovative and creative Communications Coordinator to assist the Senior Director, Communications, in a wide range of projects related to our national golf championships - including the BMW Championship, a PGA TOUR FedExCup Playoff event; the NV5 Invitational on the Korn Ferry Tour; the Western Amateur; the Women's Western Amateur; the Western Junior; and the Women's Western Junior - as well as the award-winning Evans Scholars Program. Responsibilities include drafting news releases, managing web properties, designing and editing publications and collateral pieces, interacting with media and donors and supporting special events and activities.
We will seek an individual who is creative, detail-oriented, well-organized and comfortable multi-tasking. The Coordinator, Communications, will report to the Senior Director, Communications.
Position
Responsibilities * Drafting and distributing news releases for all WGA championships * Creating programs, pairings guides, sales collateral, emails, newsletters and invitations for all WGA championships * Making content updates to all WGA/ESF websites * Managing media operations at all WGA championships * Taking, uploading, editing and organizing photos * Drafting and editing fundraising communications * Assisting with WGA and Evans Scholars Foundation communications projects * Attending special events * Interacting with donors, volunteers, competitors and members of the media
Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Liberal Arts, Public Relations, English or related field from a four-year college or university; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills and Abilities * Excellent writing skills, firm command of AP style and keen attention to detail * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on InDesign * Superior ability to multitask and project manage * Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work well with a wide range of constituents and staff * Willingness to take the initiative to lead projects or pitch in for any task required in a small team environment * Ability to travel and work on location * Experience following brand guidelines, adhering to established standards and writing in multiple voices * Experience in golf or sports media is preferred but not required
