Responsibilities:
* Prepares patient and equipment for ordered testing.* Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.* Performs and documents testing.* Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues under minimal supervision.* Scores, interprets and reports results of sleep studies.* Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing.* Determines and reports needed repairs/replacements.* Other duties as assigned.
Education:
* High school diploma or GED.
Certifications:
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA)* Registry (RPSGT, RST, REEGT, or RRT) required within 18 months of hire
Complexity of Work:
* Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.* Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
* Minimum one year polysomnographic testing and scoring experience.* One year of EEG, Respiratory Therapy or healthcare related experience may substitute.
Physical Requirements:
* Requires full range of body motion including standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.* Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients.* Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.* Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.* Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.* Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.* Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
* Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
