Overview
KVEO is looking for a candidate to forecast the weather for the weekend newscasts on our CBS and NBC stations. The candidate will also report on the latest news from SpaceX Starbase three days a week. KVEO has an exclusive partnership with a YouTuber who specializes in SpaceX. The candidate will work closely with the YouTuber to host a weekly digital SpaceX show.
Responsibilities:
- Produces and presents weather reports for all platforms.
- Produce and present in-depth weather explainers.
- Write, shoot, and edit at least two SpaceX stories a week.
- Host a weekly SpaceX digital show.
- Writes web stories detailing the local forecast or SpaceX reports.
- Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites.
- Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to ad-lib when required.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.
- Strong understanding of forecasting and SpaceX.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Flexibility to work any shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
