Job Title: Technical Writer
Location: Onsite 4 days a week (Philadelphia, PA)
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Writer with a strong engineering background to join our team. This role bridges the gap between complex technical architecture and technical requirements with clear, user-friendly documentation for both internal and external teams. The ideal candidate has hands-on engineering expertise and a passion for creating accurate content tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Job at a Glance:
- Contract Duration: 9-month contract (with the possibility of temp to perm)
- Compensation: $45/hr + optional benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k)
- Work Schedule: Onsite 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) WFH (Friday)
Key Responsibilities:
- Author, review, and maintain technical documents, including high-level design for networking components, architecture documentation, API documentation, technical network specifications, and operational knowledge base documents.
- Translate technical information into clear, concise, easy-to-understand documentation.
- Generate, update, and maintain technical documentation for internal and external use, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Collaborate with key engineers and other stakeholders to gather requirements and technical information.
- Create technical documents and manuals in formats suitable for publication, including PDF, HTML, and online systems.
- Syndicate with a partner in Canada to generate and document processes.
- Document what engineers are doing, ensuring detailed and accurate records.
- Create and manage versioning of documentation.
- Develop architecture diagrams and views suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Technical Writing, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4-7 years of business or technical writing experience.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Working knowledge of multiple software and graphics packages.
- Attention to detail and strong writing and editing experience.
- Ability to work with engineers and possess good soft skills.
- Understanding of basic coding terminology.
- Ability to diagram and create architecture type diagrams.
- Background in knowledge management.
