Job Description
The Senior Writer and Copy Editor, within Communications, Events, Donor Relations, and Stewardship, reports to the Senior Director of Communications in the Office of Resource Development (RD). The role involves developing and implementing content strategies across digital, print, and multimedia channels to support MIT's fundraising priorities, RD events marketing, publications, and stewardship reporting. Responsibilities include conceptualizing and producing original content, conducting research, interviewing subjects, editing and repurposing content, and copy editing a high volume of communications to ensure clarity, consistency, grammatical correctness, and accessibility.
Job Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field; at least three years of professional writing and copy-editing experience; excellent writing skills; ability to adapt voice; project management skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred: Experience with promotional copy for print and digital media; research skills; ability to handle multiple projects; understanding of higher education, fundraising, science, and technology; proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, web content management systems, and project management software in a Mac environment.
Resource Development offers flexible work arrangements, including a hybrid on-campus and remote work structure.
