Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/innovative-medicine Purpose: The Associate Director, Scientific Communications, Global Immunology Medical Affairs, will assist in providing strategic and technical leadership in planning and driving the scientific direction for the development and dissemination of scientific communications (i.e., manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations). The Global Immunology Medical Affairs therapeutic area includes PsA, PsO, and potentially AD. This role will work in partnership with the Global Immunology Medical Affairs Director Scientific Leads. The incumbent will be expected to provide hands-on medical writing support for the development of scientific publications for up to 50% of their time. The individual will serve as a key scientific communications lead for assets in the Psoriatic Disease and potentially AD/Respiratory Areas, providing strategic scientific publication planning and execution expertise. Identify, prioritize, and oversee the delivery of publications in partnership with R&D Function as an expert writer for assigned documents within the Global Immunology Medical Affairs Scientific Communications team Be responsible for oversight of content quality for publications and presentations within their assigned asset(s) in the Global Immunology Medical Affairs Scientific Communications team as well as reviewing all project-related content for scientific message accuracy and consistency Build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including congress organizers, journal editors, and authors) Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal partners (Biostats/Programming, R&D, Regional Med Affairs Therapeutic Area Leads, Regional Scientific Communications Team) and external authors (key opinion leaders, clinical trial investigators): Ensure timely dissemination of high-quality publications for R&D clinical trials by contributing to strategy as well as planning and driving execution of publications and data presentations Collaborate with other internal and external authors to strategize concepts for secondary publications Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with internal (e.g., Immunology Medical Affairs, R&D, Biostats colleagues) and external (authors and opinion leaders) partners to understand data presentation and publication needs Collaborate with Global Medical Affairs Lead (GMAL) and Biostats/Programming to analyze and interpret clinical study data for abstract/posters, presentations, and manuscripts Collaborate with Biostats/Programming and R&D/Medical Affairs leads as needed to prepare complete data packages for publications Coordinate communication with internal and external authors through entire process to facilitate timely publication development in accordance with Good Publication Practices Co-lead Global Pub Plan/Pub Team mtgs in assigned area/asset as applicable Attend Clinical Development Team (CDT), Global Medical Affairs Strategic Team (GMAST), etc. meetings as needed Provide direction, oversight, and feedback to internal writers, contractors and/or vendors. Collaborate with and support GMALs and provide guidance on appropriate target meetings for data presentation and journals for manuscript publication Act as a contributing writer for abstracts, posters and manuscripts, and oral presentations Maintain knowledge of all clinical study data for assigned therapeutic area by participating in meetings where protocols, top line results, study reports and submission documents are planned and reviewed Remain current with both internal J&J and external publication guidelines and ensure team adherence to publication procedures Provide ad hoc Scientific Communications support in other therapeutic areas as needed Qualifications / Requirements: Required: Bachelor’s degree with 8-10 years of related (pharmaceutical) work experience, Master’s degree with 6+ years related (pharmaceutical) work experience, or PhD/PharmD with 3+ years related (pharmaceutical) work experience. Publication experience – as individual contributor and project oversight - in Industry or Medical Communications agency The ability to work in the Horsham, PA location 3 days a week and travel domestically up to 10%. Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills are required for this high visibility position. Evidence of strong scientific writing skills and analytical thinking is essential. Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence are necessary. Preferred: Experience interacting with health care professionals and other thought leaders Experience in clinical trial design and/or clinical data interpretation Knowledge of mechanisms of immunological disease Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
