Overview
As a Telecommunications Designer you should be capable of independently performing various phases of commercial building telecommunications distribution systems and passive inside plant and outside plant cabling infrastructure design. These include, conceptual development, engineering calculations, documentation, specifications, and construction administration.
Essential Functions
- Independent design and documentation of small, mid-sized and large-scale projects.
- Work with Project MEP Engineers and Architects on larger projects and specific tasks.
- Ensure the design and production efforts are completed within the established project budgets and schedules.
- Analyze client-specific telecommunications requirements, applicable codes and standards to determine the most appropriate design.
- Review client specific access control and security requirements and develop the design and specifications in accordance with each client's project requirements.
- Design physical space requirements for telecommunications systems and coordinate with MEP and Architectural project team.
- Design of other low voltage systems such as: DAS, Emergency Call, Nurse Call, Public Address, RF/IPTV Distribution, WiFi Predictive Analysis and Layout, Intrusion Detection Systems, and Two-Way Communication Systems.
- Guide and mentor junior design staff.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- 2-5 years of relevant experience
- AutoCAD or Revit experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience in the design of telecommunications systems for various building types (corporate, pharmaceutical, healthcare, cultural, government academic, sports and entertainment)
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- RCDD Certification
