Project Overview:
As a Visual Interaction Designer for one of the world’s most widely used mapping platforms, you’ll shape the future of visual experiences used by millions globally. This role is part of a team responsible for cutting-edge imagery technology, including immersive, real-time, and street-level views. Designers on this team merge interactive map visualizations with high-fidelity real-world imagery to help users navigate and understand their surroundings more intuitively.
You’ll collaborate closely with a UX lead to propose and refine UI designs across multiple high-impact use cases. Additionally, you’ll work alongside Product, Engineering, and other teams to identify challenges, refine design patterns, and ensure seamless execution against key product milestones. Your contributions will help define the next generation of interactive mapping experiences, blending exploration, refinement, and user-centered design.
The ideal candidate has strong 3D, visual, and motion design skills. Experience working in game engines such as Unreal or Unity is a plus. This role best suits someone who thrives in highly ambiguous spaces, enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams and embraces innovation at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Evolve the design of UI elements across several related imagery features
- Evaluate use cases, conduct audits, and deliver design solutions with global audiences, data quality, and overall app in mind
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand use cases and provide streamlined and elegant solutions
- Communicate the design rationale behind the solution at various stages of the process, including but not limited to wireframes, prototypes, or motion studies
Skills:
- Minimum 4 years of experience
- BA or BS in Design (including graphic design, human-computer interaction, architecture, or a related field – in lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant work experience)
- Experience working with 3D environments and 3D game engines (Unity, Unreal, Blender, After Effects)
- Fluent with design tools – specifically Figma
- Elementary understanding of HTML/CSS or other technical UI framework
- Tactical hands-on design capabilities
- Strong understanding of design theory, principles of typography, layout, and information hierarchy
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

- Pay Range: $55-64 - W2 Only
The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
