As the Custom Packaging Designer for Cannatron/Dispensary Supplies you will focus on the technical execution of packaging projects, transforming internal briefs and product specifications into accurate, production-ready packaging designs. This role emphasizes precision, layout accuracy, and a deep understanding of packaging materials and print processes. Your work will ensure that all designs are fully compliant, press-ready, and optimized for efficient production and assembly, while still supporting the visual intent of the customer’s brand.
Overview of Responsibilities:
- Design packaging for various formats (Mylar bags, tubes, jars, cartons, labels, etc.)
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop packaging concepts from idea to final print-ready artwork
- Ensure all designs meet print specifications, dyelines, and compliance requirements
- Stay current with packaging trends, materials, finishes, and regulatory guidelines (especially within the cannabis industry)
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality
- Prepare and proof artwork for print production, working closely with vendors to ensure color accuracy and quality control
- Troubleshoot layout and structural design issues to ensure print accuracy and ease of assembly
- Maintain file organization, version control, and documentation for ongoing packaging projects
- Assist marketing department as needed for a variety of tasks.
Requirements:
- 2–4 years of experience in packaging design, production art, or a related graphic design role.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign – Illustrator is a must)
- Solid understanding of dieline creation, layout standards, and print production processes
- Familiarity with packaging materials and construction, including folding cartons, flexible packaging, and rigid containers
- Familiarity with cannabis industry packaging and compliance (preferred but not required)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple design files and projects simultaneously
- Bonus: Experience working with packaging manufacturers or print vendors
Candidates with a Portfolio showcasing packaging design preferred.
