What You’ll Be Serving Up:
Lead and provide strategic legal counsel and support to facilitate critical marketing, advertising, and digital performance, including negotiating contracts with key partners and ensuring legal compliance with advertising and product development. The role serves as the point person for legal needs of KFC’s marketing, advertising, and business partners.
Here’s How You’ll Spice Things Up:
- General Contract Negotiation: Manage and lead end-to-end contracting processes for partnerships, agencies, and vendors used by marketing, advertising, and digital teams, including:
- Negotiating Master Agreements, SOWs, SaaS, PaaS, and EULAs with digital technology vendors, including onboarding new vendors.
- Negotiating Master Agency Agreements, SOWs, renewals, and amendments with marketing and advertising agencies in collaboration with franchisee coops.
- Handling co-promotional, licensing, and talent agreements for marketing partnerships.
- Negotiating performance marketing direct buys with digital partners including aggregators.
- Marketing & Advertising Compliance: Establish, communicate, and implement advertising review processes and guardrails, including:
- Onboarding and training new agencies and partners to balance value and risk.
- Managing sweepstakes, contests, and giveaways, ensuring brand protection and proper participant interaction, escalating high-risk issues as needed. Draft and review rules for such promotions.
- Overseeing legal reviews of advertisements, promotions, licensing, brand partnerships, and system communications, escalating trademark/IP issues to the Yum Trademark team as appropriate.
- Participate in special projects to enhance marketing and digital integration.
- Maintain alignment with internal teams through regular meetings, communication, training, and sharing results.
- Perform other tasks as delegated by the Chief Legal Officer.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Education/Certifications: Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Experience: 3+ years in a large law firm or fast-paced corporate environment, with a strong background in marketing and advertising compliance (FTC, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, deceptive advertising laws, trademark/IP).
- Experience with contracts, technology, data privacy, and product design is a plus but not required.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, proactive, collaborative, high integrity, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
