Full-Time, Salaried Position (40 hours/week)
About REV
Reach Every Voice is an innovative organization dedicated to supporting non-speaking and partially speaking autistic learners, their families, and educators through neurodiversity-affirming practices and individualized communication instruction.
Position Overview
We seek a dynamic Program Director and Teacher to to lead our educational programs while providing direct instruction and support to students and families learning text-based multimodal communication approaches. This position combines hands-on teaching, program leadership, and team management to help non-speaking learners access educational, social, and community opportunities. This position includes the opportunity for some hours to be worked remotely in coordination with the administrative team.
We are looking for an educator who aligns philosophically with our core beliefs and has a strong background in education. While we prefer a candidate with past experience supporting nonspeaking learners, for the right candidate, we will provide comprehensive training.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Instruction & Support (∽50% of role)
- Provide individualized communication and education instruction using multimodal approaches
- Design and facilitate engaging group sessions that build communication skills and community connections
- Support students in office settings
- Coach families in implementing effective communication strategies and supports
Program Leadership & Administration (∽35% of role)
- Schedule, coordinate, and direct all in-person and online group programming
- Collaborate with the administrative team to develop curriculum and lesson materials
- Develop and implement program evaluation and improvement processes
- Contribute to REV's Lessons Library with ready-made communication practice resources
- Assist in creating educational content for online courses and community workshops
- Participate in IEP meetings and consultation services as needed
Professional Development & Community Building (∽15% of role)
- Engage in ongoing professional development aligned with REV's neurodiversity-affirming approach
- Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and program planning
- Collaborate with administrative team on strategic planning and organizational development
- Support community outreach and family engagement initiatives
- Mentor new staff and contribute to training programs
Required Qualifications
Education & Licensing
- Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field preferred; Bachelor's degree minimum
- Active teaching license strongly preferred (support available for license renewal if recently expired)
- Demonstrated leadership experience in educational settings
Experience & Skills
- Demonstrated experience with text-based communication methods and various AAC strategies
- Proven track record in program development and management
- Experience supervising and mentoring staff
- Understanding of autism and commitment to neurodiversity-affirming practices
- Experience working with non-speaking or minimally speaking individuals
- Strong group facilitation, program development, and leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to work across multiple locations
Working Conditions & Benefits
Schedule & Location
- Full-time, salaried position (40 hours/week)
- Split time between Gaithersburg and Severna Park, MD offices (with potential to transition to one location in near term)
- Some weekly remote work opportunities in coordination with administrative team
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience: range $65,000-$80,000
