The Department of English in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applicants for a full-time visiting lecturer position with a desired specialization in the teaching of scientific writing for the 2025-2026 academic year, with renewal possible depending on satisfactory performance and available future funding. This is a non-tenure accruing position. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025; classes begin on August 25, 2025.
Our newly created science writing course responds to new synergies within the College of Arts and Sciences and is an emerging emphasis within our major. Alongside experience designing and teaching courses on science writing to both majors and non-majors, the desired candidate would be experienced in teaching technical writing and/or freshman composition.
Visiting Lecturers hold non-tenured appointments with primary responsibility for teaching. The normal teaching load for the position is 4/4, with likely one section of science writing per semester and the majority being composition and/or tech writing.
Texas A&M’s English department is home to an undergraduate major and minor, a minor in health humanities, a professional writing minor, a minor in science fiction studies, and MA and PhD programs.
