Who are we looking for?
A professional with a background in environmental compliance, especially waste permitting and compliance, who is commercially savvy and experienced in client engagement. The role of Technical Director, Environmental Permitting Lead involves leading projects, business development, and providing technical expertise within GHD. The position can be based in Southeast offices (Tampa, Orlando, or Miami) with some remote work flexibility.
If your experience includes waste compliance, RCRA, DOT, TSCA, NORM, or low-level radioactive waste, this opportunity allows you to leverage your expertise in challenging projects as a subject matter expert.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate on business strategies to expand EHS compliance in the US
- Build and mentor a connected team across the US
- Maintain a high external profile through industry involvement
- Lead proposal development and contract negotiations
- Manage technical projects, ensuring client satisfaction and project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget
- Act as an environmental relationship manager for key clients
Qualifications
- B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Science, or related field
- 25+ years of compliance experience focusing on waste regulations
- Knowledge of regulatory waste requirements across multiple states
- Experience leading RCRA audits and technical writing
- Recognized as a technical leader in EHS and RCRA compliance
- Ability to communicate effectively with professionals, clients, and regulators
- Experience with air and media permitting is a plus
- Willingness to travel
