Service Writer - Heavy-Duty Diesel Repair Shop- Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Key Service Writer Responsibilities Include:
- Determine problems and services by listening to customer's descriptions of symptoms, clarifying description problems, conducting inspections, checking maintenance records, and examining service schedules
- Discuss repairs and findings with mechanics and document accordingly
- Verify warranty and service contract coverage by examining records
- Obtain authorizations and produce estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor
- Prepare repair orders by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered
- Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle
- Maintain customer records by recording problems and corrective actions planned
- Obtain parts for mechanics and assist with maintenance of shop equipment
Successful Service Writer Candidates Will Have:
- Related work experience as a Service Writer or Lead Mechanic
- Knowledge of medium/heavy-duty diesel trucks & trailers required
- Comprehensive understanding of service and repair operations in the truck industry
- Excellent customer service skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills, required
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills needed to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite products with ability to conduct basic tasks in Excel
