Overview
In addition to accessibility work, this designer will contribute to feature and functionality design for our outdoor platforms, helping to create intuitive and user-friendly experiences for customers managing hunting and fishing licenses, campground reservations, and other outdoor-related services.

Responsibilities
- Accessibility & Compliance:
- Serve as the primary UX liaison with our accessibility vendor(s), triaging accessibility issues and ensuring they are properly documented and prioritized.
- Partner with development teams to guide remediation efforts and ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1+ and ADA best practices.
- Conduct UX accessibility audits and support accessibility testing, including screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, and color contrast improvements.
- Advocate for inclusive design principles throughout product development.
- UX & Software Design:
- Design new features and workflows to enhance usability across platforms.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows that align with user needs and business goals.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate UX concepts into functional designs.
- Conduct user research and leverage data to inform design decisions.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving our design systems.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in UX design, software design, or a related field.
- Experience working with digital accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA, Section 508) and remediation strategies.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing tools and screen readers (e.g., Axe, JAWS, NVDA).
- Strong experience with Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for prototyping and wireframing.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and front-end development principles (not required to code, but should understand technical feasibility).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working alongside developers, product managers, quality assurance, etc.
- Experience in designing for government, outdoor recreation, or highly regulated industries is a plus.
