This position offers you the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the detailed electrical design and project management of high voltage substation projects.
- As a Substation Electrical Engineer, you will take an active role in project conceptualization, work planning, and project execution.
- You will work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
- As an Electrical Engineer, you will prepare reports that present technical and project information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
- Develop your career via peer-learning through sharing of knowledge with other experienced engineers.
This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in office and working remote from home.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as the E,I&C designer for multiple projects.
- Design E, I&C scope for Oil & Gas projects while expanding knowledge on the application of engineering principles and a familiarity with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures.
- Using AutoCAD, create design deliverable packages, while working closely with a discipline engineer/PM.
- Prepare layout, detail, sketch drawings and designs requiring the application of practical design knowledge.
- Assist with calculations with supervision from discipline engineer to determine conduit & cable sizes, cable tray fill, and indoor/outdoor lighting.
Support senior designers and project team members across a wide range of technologies including power generation, mining, oil and gas, and renewables to ensure structural drawing deliverables are completed on-time and within budget.
Collaborate with other design disciplines to resolve physical design clashes within the 3D model, while also reviewing the 3D model for completeness. Travel to client facilities with experienced project team members may be necessary to verify on-site physical design conditions.
Produce 2D structural drawing deliverables with attention to quality, consistency, and accountability that meets or exceeds customer requirements.
This senior engineering position is within Sargent & Lundy's Electrical Analytical Division and will be responsible for the following:
- Performing protection system calculations and analysis to support a wide variety of clients.
- Develop relay settings associated with HV/EHV Substation and Transmission Lines.
- Develop relay settings for Power Station Generators, Transformers, Motors and Medium Voltage and Low Voltage protection devices.
- Aiding clients to comply with NERC PRC standards.
- Relaying Event Report analysis.
