Responsibilities:
- Quickly yet thoroughly create process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to define business and feature requirements via empirical online data, usability findings, market research, and proven UCD principles.
- Assess and optimize the performance of features by participating in usability testing and interpreting analytics data using Omniture SiteCatalyst.
- Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and executives for review and feedback.
- Contribute to user interface design and development best practices and standards.
- Provide leadership in ecommerce trends, web application design, and user interface innovations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years industry experience providing interaction design solutions for web and/or software applications.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
- Fluency in web-based information architecture and usability principles.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Visio, Figma, and Dreamweaver (at least 3).
- A strong online portfolio demonstrating relevant design solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to convey complex design concepts.
- Self-starter, customer-obsessed, detail-oriented, and a team player.
- Ability to work with technical teams and handle multiple projects in an agile environment.
- Prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, or Flash is a plus.
Horizontal offers competitive compensation and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement. The pay range for this role is $25 - $57 per hour, subject to experience and location.
