Working under the Education and Resource Coordinator and Family Resource Center Manager, the Studio Production Specialist will assist in facilitating all programming through the Kids Connect TV Studio in the Family Resource Center. The Studio Production Specialist will assist in running the day-to-day operation of the Kids Connect TV Studio, edit content, schedule prerecorded content, and maintain, purchase/operate the studio equipment. The Studio Production Specialist will also provide guidance for the tasks of the FRC Volunteers. The Studio Production Specialist is responsible for establishing positive associations with all of Connecticut Children's audiences, which may include but is not limited to, internal stakeholders, patients and families, media, celebrities, and community partners. The Studio Production Specialist will also interact with inpatients and outpatients and their families to promote programming and engagement. This position will require some weekend hours to ensure programming, whether live or pre-recorded, is available 7 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Prepares, produces, and executes daily on-air broadcast in the Kids Connect TV Studio (this will include being on-air). Works within creative and graphic standard guidelines. Follows creative direction of the Studio Committee. Manages own project workflow while coordinating with project teams and management on schedules, assignments, requirements, and goals as needed. Helps to ensure successful representation of the Connecticut Children's and Kids Connect TV brands across media, through knowledge of brand standards, design templates and systems architecture. -55%
- Operates, installs, and maintains studio equipment (Mixer and Software controls, production computers, media hard drives, file backups, etc.). -5%
- Creates visual still and motion media with various cameras and editing software (DaVinci Resolve). -10%
- Produces stories, creates highlight emails, captures photos and video for a range of projects including social media, posters, advertisements, email, corporate identity pieces, and externally-facing website. -15%
- Collaborates with multiple departments, including Child Life, Marketing & Communications, and Connecticut Children's Foundation, in developing programming, communications concepts, and stories that reflect the unique position and value of the Kids Connect TV Studio and Connecticut Children's to our diverse audience segments. -10%
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned. -5%
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Required:
- Education: Associate's degree in audio/video production, copywriting, journalism, marketing, public relations, communications, English or a related field.
- Experience: One year of experience relevant to the assigned discipline, in an agency, studio, or corporate environment.
Professional experience, beyond requirements, in a related field may substitute for a Bachelor degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Education and/or Experience Preferred:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in audio/video production copywriting, journalism, marketing, public relations, communications, English or a related field.
- Experience:
- Two years' experience is preferred.
- Experience working with children and teens preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Studio production, programming, editing and execution of daily broadcasting.
Working knowledge of healthcare systems.
Skills:
- Communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including patients and families, hospital administrative staff, multidisciplinary team members, and external organizations.
- Proficient in use of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, editing and mixing software, audio and visual equipment,
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Abilities:
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Work as a team member.
- Prioritize work and meet deadlines in a time-constrained environment.
- Adapt activities based on a child's individual needs.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families.
