Description
Researches, reports, writes, and produces multimedia spots and features for Houston Public Media (HPM) on-air and digital platforms. Serves as on-air program host, with specific responsibilities depending on whether the position focuses on TV or radio operations.
- Provides aesthetic and creative direction for live and recorded public media programs.
- Conceives, researches, develops, and executes ideas into program content.
- Provides on-air hosting and delivery that meet professional broadcast standards, including NPR standards.
- Operates station broadcast and production equipment professionally, adhering to NPR standards.
- Enhances the station's public image through community outreach events.
- Participates in station fundraising campaigns and special events.
- May assist station management by training other on-air talent or serving as a team lead.
- Curates and shares content on the HPM website and social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: A four-year college degree or equivalent specialized training in a relevant professional discipline. Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience.
Certification/Licensing: None required.
