Job Description
Wolf Pack Radio is a student-run radio station dedicated to broadening musical tastes and promoting independent, underground and local music that would not be heard on commercial radio. The general manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the radio station, including developing, coordinating and managing staff; formulating program ideas; training new staff and volunteers; and working with ASUN directors in achieving department goals.
Responsibilities
- Perform all tasks outlined in the Student Media Governing Documents, and sustain Wolf Pack Radio’s mission.
- Attend the Student Media Advisory Board meetings and all required meetings and development days held by ASUN.
- Uphold the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics and the University of Nevada, Reno’s Student Code of Conduct.
- Uphold the FCC guidelines.
- Renew all contracts for Wolf Pack Radio.
- Personnel director in charge of the hiring and firing of staff members.
- Meet weekly with staff members.
- Train staff members and volunteers.
- Work with staff members to create new on-air programming.
- Manage the budget allotted to Wolf Pack Radio by ASUN.
- Work all scheduled hours and set office hours for each semester.
- Delegate tasks to staff members and oversee all staff members.
- Build relationships between Wolf Pack Radio and on-campus organizations.
- Work to build Wolf Pack Radio’s relationships within the local music scene in Reno.
- Cultivate a diverse group of volunteer DJs.
- Organize the program schedule each semester.
- Organize special events such as Wolf Pack Radio’s annual showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
- Create educational workshops for all volunteers.
- Communicate and collaborate with other student publications.
- Meet weekly with the Student Media Adviser.
- Work collectively with the team to develop transition documents for all positions in Wolf Pack Radio.
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.
- Candidate has experience using Facebook, X, and Instagram.
- Candidate has a basic understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud products including Audition, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
- Candidate has a firm understanding of free form radio.
- Candidate has the ability to maintain a flexible attitude in times of stress.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidate was a past volunteer with Wolf Pack Radio.
- Candidate is passionate about music and freeform radio.
- Candidate has experience editing audio and writing.
- Candidate understands Reno’s music scene.
