Job Description:
GatorWell Health Promotion Services seeks a Marketing Assistant to design, produce, and disseminate health communication and social media efforts for the department. GatorWell’s mission is to empower UF students to build their own path toward lifelong wellbeing through prevention, advocacy, and sustainable behavior change. GatorWell envisions all Gators living well, purposeful lives.
Reporting to the Director, this individual will assist Health Promotion Specialists in the development and execution of health communication graphic designs and deliverables. This individual will also coordinate the dissemination of health communication messages and analytics associated with department social media channels.
This position includes the following essential functions:
35% - Create unique professional and innovative designs to be utilized on print publications, t-shirts, web graphics, promotional materials, building signage, and more. Follow department, divisional, and institutional branding and tone. Provide proofing skills for spelling, grammar, and design consistency. Prepare artwork files for professional printing.
25% - Ideate, create and pitch social media content ideas for GatorWell’s various social platforms. Work with professional staff to coordinate and manage social media and digital marketing. Research, strategize, and advise area on the social media content landscape ranging from current trends to universal best practices. Assist with website updates.
20% - Collaborate with Health Promotion Specialists in the development and creation of health communication designs targeting UF student wellbeing. Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, and vendors in an agency-style work environment with both student and professional staff including digital content creators, photographers, videographers, marketing assistants, communication specialists, and more.
5% - Support the hire and collaboration of undergraduate graphic design and marketing and communications student staff.
5% - Support data tracking and report development related to marketing analytics.
5% – Contribute to the division and university through active participation on committees and division-wide initiatives (example opportunities: emergency dean on call, event support team, conduct committee, student welcome events, etc). Driving a personal vehicle to transport materials to various campus locations is required.
This is a one-year time-limited Teams non-exempt position.
Expected Salary:
$21.55
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, or other similar degree program.
Experience in a higher education environment.
Experience collaborating with stakeholders on high stakes projects and deliverables.
Proficiency in utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud.
Experience in using and collaborating on Canva
Have an interest in UF student wellbeing and building a positive relationship to improve the campus community.
Possess solid writing and grammar skills, as well as the ability to craft and maintain a consistent voice and tone.
Ability to analyze problems and implement solutions.
Ability to demonstrate intelligent thinking and an eye for detail and accuracy.
An interest in thinking creatively, strategically, and collaboratively to aid in educating our community on the experiences and offerings available to enhance the UF experience.
Supervisory and organizational skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, on campus and in the community.
Physical ability to perform required tasks; ability to lift and/or move objects weighing 10 pounds or more, ability to carry boxes and materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
Maturity to satisfactorily discharge assigned responsibilities.
