Job Details:
Title: Principal Engineer (Hybrid Role)
Location: Batesville, IN 47006
Duration: 12 months with possible extension: up to 2 years
Pay Rate: $63.76/hour
JOB SUMMARY:
Utilizes knowledge of textiles, foam, and chemicals to provide technical contribution to surface and material performance. Supports requirements, analysis, detailed design and verification activities for an assigned product, project, or solution. Provides guidance to other engineers on design best practices and technical issue resolution, engages in design reviews, and helps resolve problems of medium complexity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifies technical problems, provides innovative, creative solutions; shares technical knowledge with a team.
- Incorporates business, market, industry, and competitive knowledge into technical solutions that can be readily adapted to changes in technology and/or clinical use.
- Generate alternatives and take reasonable risks while solving technical problems.
- Completes detailed, high quality technical documentation to capture and communicate designs.
- Seeks knowledge of the business, market, industry, and competitive environment.
- Uses existing tools and best practices to report and track product and process metrics.
- Challenges project teams and established work processes and proactively finds creative methods to reach desired performance levels.
- Informs others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments.
- Ability to deliver according to project schedules and communicate status.
- Other duties may be assigned.
UNIQUE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of coated fabric composition and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of chemical compatibility related to polyurethane coated fabrics
- Experience designing soft goods including foam
- Experience designing RF welded and sewn assemblies
- Understanding of statistical techniques used to generate sampling requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
- Ability to adapt to change.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Textiles or Engineering or local equivalent of same; generally, 5-10 years of experience. Specialization in textiles is a plus.
