SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to serve as an audio engineer, working closely with the Broadcast & Multimedia Production Services (B&MPS) team and the various clients served by B&MPS. It is expected that the majority of the work will be studio based post production. This audio engineer position works closely with the other audio engineers in capturing studio or field recordings and is responsible for editing and post-production. The audio team is responsible for daily production and quality control of web based content created in support of Church activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- 55% - Edits audio. Performs audio editing, post-production and audio mixing, of daily media products produced by the Church for web distribution. This work may be done remotely.
- 35% - Provides studio coverage at Boston studios.
- 5% - Oversees the details of ongoing daily media production, managing timeline, and client expectations, this work may be done remotely.
- 5% - May record field audio when necessary.
- 5% - Other duties as requested.

Regular Contacts
This position has regular contact with other BMPS staff, works directly with client department content owners, program producers, associate producers, and talent.
Internal departments this position will work with but are not limited to The Christian Science Monitor, The Christian Science Heralds , Sentinel and Journal, The Weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson, General Publications as well as other Church clients.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
A Bachelor's degree is required. 5-7 years production experience working in a recording studio environment (preferably live radio) is required. A basic knowledge of electronics, signal flow, and telecommunications is a must. Intimate knowledge of audio and video live production is required. A familiarity and experience working with both Windows and Mac OS is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills
- Mastery of audio equipment and multitrack production workflow a must.
- Must be familiar with cloud based data storage solutions.
- Have a mastery of audio equipment and multitrack production workflow. Be a Pro Tools expert and Izotope RX or similar post-production audio specialist.
- The position must be comfortable working in a deadline oriented, live to web, studio production environment.
This position requires mastery and understanding of the following digital audio production software.

- Waves Gold plug-ins
- Audacity
- Adobe Audition
- Adobe Media Encoder
- Adobe FMLE
- Transmit (FTP client)
- Dante AOIP protocol
- Tieline
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Google's G-mail, Google Docs
- Google Hangouts, Skype, Zoom distance learning software and Youtube skills.
The position demands a Power computer and peripherals user who understands and demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of audio production, signal flow, troubleshooting, and audio processing.
Qualities/Traits
Because of its unsupervised nature, this position requires dependability, patience, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without assistance or direction. The audio technician will possess excellent communication skills, a proven ability to teach others, and the ability to work well with broadcast producers and management as well as fellow workers. This position requires someone who can work under a deadline. An organized and creative individual is needed.
Work Environment
This position can work offsite on occasion. Some domestic and international travel may be required.
