Assistant Editor/ Account Manager at The Scout Guide Hunt Country

Do you love Hunt Country? Are you passionate about supporting small businesses? TSG Hunt Country is hiring an Assistant Editor. The Assistant Editor will manage and execute all editorial and social media content for the Hunt Country guide in a manner consistent with The Scout Guide’s aesthetic and editorial vision. As well assist with the production, distribution, and sales of the book. Networking and sales is significant part of this role

Company Description

The Scout Guide (TSG) is a 100% women-founded and women-owned publishing franchise with 100 locations nationwide. TSG is dedicated to showcasing small businesses, artists, artisans, and makers in each city or region it serves.

Role Description

This is a part-time hybrid role at The Scout Guide located in the Middleburg, VA area. The Assistant Editor will be responsible for producing editorial content for online platforms as well as assisting with sales and production of the print guide. This role offers the flexibility to work partially from home.

Requirements:

• Must live in the Hunt Country area (this is not a remote position)
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong writing skills a must
• Proficient in social media planning, creation, and management via Instagram, Facebook and Wordpress
• Adept in client-facing communications
• Robust photography and video skills, must be able to make and edit content
• Able to work remotely and independently
• Proficiency with Canva, Cap Cut, and Adobe Photoshop
• Experience with the full Adobe Creative Suite is a plus

Work:

• Work with a roster of local Hunt Country businesses to ideate editorial ideas
• Manage TSG Hunt Country editorial calendar for blog, newsletter, and social media posts
• Manage TSG Hunt Country website
• Produce weekly newsletter to Hunt Country audience on Emma platform
• Write articles weekly for site and coordinate approvals from editor and client
• Post daily on Instagram, Facebook, and Instagram stories
• Visit TSG advertisers and take photos and video for social media
• Attend advertiser and community events
• Manage distribution of the guide and personally delivers guide to locations (this task requires lifting boxes 10 lbs and heavier)
• Field TSG Hunt Country advertiser inquiries and requests
• Assist with sales and scouting of new businesses
• Manage pre-production scheduling, location scouting and procurement
• Work with TSG marketing team to support HQ initiatives
• Help with planning of events and launch party
• Support Editor as needed

Salary is dependent on experience in the $30k-$40k range for this part time position.
