Position Summary:
Videographers work within the Menards Media Production team to shoot video, record audio, and prepare sets for Menards TV commercials, along with other media production projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate digital video cameras.
- Set up camera stabilization and lighting equipment in the studios and on location.
- Build and stage sets, assemble products for shoots, and maintain the studios.
- Direct talent.
- Upload and back up footage to shared storage systems.
- Coordinate with other team members and departments as needed.
Skills and Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor Degree in Visual Communication, Advertising, or Communications; experience with digital cinema cameras and interchangeable lenses preferred.
- DSLR photography experience, especially product photography.
- Thorough understanding of exposure controls including shutter speed, aperture, ISO.
- Knowledge of video formats, frame rates, codecs.
- Understanding of camera stabilization equipment like tripods, jibs, sliders, tracks, and gimbals.
- Proficiency with lighting equipment including diffusion, light stands, barn doors, scrims, gels, and flags; experience with 3-point lighting and chroma-key lighting.
- Experience recording audio in the field.
- Ability to direct talent and make creative decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be hardworking, self-motivated, and able to learn and take direction.
- Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail, creativity with product shots, and experience working from scripts, storyboards, shot lists, or creative briefs.
- Home improvement and/or set building experience, ability to use power tools strongly recommended.
- Occasional heavy lifting required.
- Familiarity with Menards stores and products is very helpful.
- Ability to work during normal office hours (Monday-Friday, 40-45 hours/week) at the Corporate Office in Eau Claire, WI (remote work not offered).
