Job Summary/Description:

The candidate should possess good news judgment, and be a strong writer and creative thinker. The candidate should have strong anchor skills, leadership qualities, solid news judgment, and the ability to multi-task. The candidate must have a passion for local news and want to share stories that make a difference each day for the people who live in East Tennessee.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

1. Present information in a fair, unbiased manner.
2. Ability to anchor, report, go live, field anchor, and present onset debriefs when needed.
3. Help craft on-air shows and content on social media and the web that enhances the viewer’s experience.
4. Must have the ability to post and edit stories multiple times throughout the day on web and social platforms.
5. Develop story ideas to present including digital components in morning/afternoon news meetings.
6. Willing to work with our news consultant/talent coach to develop an on-air look and presence.
7. Regularly contributes story ideas in editorial meetings.
8. This role is for a leader who doesn't just want to sit behind a desk.
9. Expected to enterprise ideas and loves to report.
10. Collaborative with the entire team.
11. Mentor young journalists.
12. Develop sources and contacts.
13. Dives into digital stories.
14. Ready to go on air or stream when news breaks.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. Always present a professional image as a representative of WVLT-TV.
2. Ability to multi-task on a regular basis, meet daily and long-range deadlines, work well with others in a team atmosphere, and contribute meaningful content daily.
3. Candidate should have a degree in Journalism or a related field.
4. 4 years of experience is preferred; ability to produce a plus.
5. Good driving record.
