Work Schedule is 20 hours per week.
Telework: You must reside in Montana (or move to Montana) to accept this position. In this position you will be afforded the opportunity to telework; however, there will be required weekly in-office day(s) in Helena. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.
Job Duties:
The Web Content Specialist works on the production and maintenance of content on the FWP public website. Essential technical skills include expert abilities in website publishing, HTML coding, CSS, and a thorough knowledge of webpage construction and graphics packages. Must possess excellent writing skills, especially electronic communications methods and media, copywriting for a variety of audiences, editing and proofing for spelling, grammar, and style. In helping with FWP's web presence, the WCS is in part responsible for ensuring the website's performance is reliable, usable, and accessible to staff and visitors such as hunters and anglers, landowners, students, political leaders, and more. WCS primarily carries out website content production to ensure content is current, accurate, well-written, relevant and responsive to FWP's mission and goals. The WCS reviews, writes/edits, and designs content for publishing topical information on the FWP website. Content organization, presentation, conciseness, and consistency are key.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
There are periods of high stress. There are many priorities to balance and interruptions can be frequent. Must be able to work under situations involving deadlines and pressures of a diverse audience of individuals. Depending on regional needs for web content assistance and training, the job could require travel to regional and area offices. Frequency of these visits will depend on regional need.
Personal Contacts:
Contacts Web Content Manager, Web Liaisons and other webpage content owners daily to coordinate website changes and improvements. Contacts within the department to provide technical support. Requires the ability to adapt or customize assistance and explanation based on the technical expertise of various contacts. Contacts Web Liaisons and other webpage content owners to coordinate web content management and improvements. Contacts Web Team to exchange web content and technical information - daily/weekly.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Behaviors):
The incumbent's day-to-day activities will include: writing HTML, CSS and web coding; project management; creating multiple priorities under tight deadlines; inserting keywords and hyperlinks in appropriate places in copy; providing timely and effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; interviewing; writing content based on FWP's mission; customer service; compiling and analyzing content from multiple sources; following written and oral directions and instructions.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Knowledge, skills and abilities are acquired through a minimum of at least two years of college or vocational training (Associate’s degree with Bachelor's degree preferred) in Internet Technology, Web Programming, Digital Communications, English, Business Administration, Marketing, Library Science; or related field and at least two years of job-related work experience in Communications, Graphic Design, Information Management, Journalism. Work experience should be focused on developing and writing web content, professional web-based content management including webpage layout, content and design; electronic/web publishing or web editing and content management and Internet research. Other combinations of experience and education will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Salary: $23.86 - 23.86 Hourly
