Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Webmaster to manage, maintain, and optimize our websites and ensure a seamless digital user experience for our clients and partners. The ideal candidate is a talented artist who has extensive technical expertise, an eye for design and appreciation of branding, and can work independently or with a team to create, maintain, and update websites. Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and web applications and services is essential for succeeding in this role. The web developer will have an immediate impact on the NexPoint brand and our affiliates’ business and will help advance key projects across our firm.
The ideal candidate is a proficient WordPress developer and will be adept in digital tools. This role requires expertise in front-end website design, using standard HTML/CSS practices, and incorporate data from back-end databases and services. The position is integral to our organization, supporting teams that drive global growth initiatives, product launches, corporate brand management, public relations, and investor relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design website layouts, user interfaces, and interactive elements to enhance user experience and engagement
- Develop and maintain website content, ensuring it’s up-to-date, visually appealing, and optimized for performance and search engines, collaborating with members of the marketing and communications teams and various third parties as needed
- Develop and maintain operational systems, tools, and processes, and participate in tactical and strategic development projects
- Ensure software stability via regression, support quality assurance, and perform unit and user-acceptance testing to identify bugs
- Meet regularly with stakeholders and managers to review business and functional requirements and to determine project scopes and specifications
- Make small edits requested, develop plans for completing larger projects, and suggest solutions to improve existing websites
- Perform UI design and coding and create reusable objects and wireframes for web pages and email templates
- Conduct file backups regularly to local directories
- Manage the day-to-day operation and health of the WordPress website, ensuring uptime, functionality and security.
- Develop, modify, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in web design, multimedia design, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in web content development, digital marketing, and website management.
- Experience in planning and developing websites across multiple products and organizations
- Portfolio of work as a Website Designer with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, XD, etc.), Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Word), and Canva Pro.
- Proficiency in web development languages and frameworks such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and web publishing platforms.
- Proficient knowledge of WordPress as a content management system and Elementor as a WYSIWYG page builder within WordPress.
- Strong understanding and experience in WordPress security practices
- Experience with Windows and Linux environments.
- Working knowledge of design principles, design development standards, techniques, and methodologies.
- Working knowledge of design fundamentals such as color theory, typography, and composition.
- Experience with WordPress plug-in management and customization
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Understanding of web hosting and server management
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve website issues
