Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for a Vice President - Interior Design at our Houston Downtown office. In this role, you will be the lead Principal for Interior Design projects. The successful candidate will need to be a Licensed Architect or NCIDQ Certified Professional with 15+ years of professional experience in interior architecture design. They will have very good communication and leadership skills, and the ability to ensure exceptional project delivery for clients.

Duties:
Act as primary contact for the client and is responsible for overall project management
Strong client relationships and the ability to win future work
Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of projects with a high degree of technical complexity
Supervise project team cooperatively with the project designer
Coordinate workload within project teams and work with other project directors to manage workload across multiple offices
Ensure project development, documentation and its completion meets schedule and budget
Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions
Reviews work and propose changes to design, and to comply with building codes and budget
Prepares plan of action to resolve project issues
Maintains project budgets and schedules while meeting client needs, business objectives and design guidelines
Mentor project teams and foster positive team spirit that supports everyone's efforts to succeed
Ensure staff adheres to HZ's policies, practices and procedures
Monitor internal staffing needs and coordinate client staff and their internal customers, architects, engineers, contractors and vendors
Write proposals, recommend appropriate fees, and participate in contract negotiations with clients and consultants
Manage bid or contractor selection process
Actively pursue new business opportunities by utilizing their network
Assist market sector teams in preparing proposals, calling on new and prospective clients, and participating in new project presentations as requested.
Key Responsibilities:
Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
Successfully and consistently functions as Lead Principal-in-Charge for their designated Practice Area in geographic market.
Competent, knowledgeable, service leader in the market(s) they service.
Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client). Verifies client satisfaction routinely and shares feedback with team.
Proactively works with PM to strategize resolving issues that impact project performance. Reviews progress with PM at least monthly (including & completes vs. % spent) and that PM is adhering to weekly rhythm.
Successfully contributes to the overall profitability and financial performance on projects.
Oversees staff deliverables and production assigned to their projects to ensure client, legal, and company requirements are met.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or closely related field.
Must be Registered Architect and/or NCIDQ Certified; NCIDQ Certification preferred.
15+ years related experience in interior architectural design with the tasks identified above.
10+ years project management experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledgeable to direct staff in effective use of Revit including coordinated 3D BIM modeling of component systems, AutoCAD for 2D designs, and software for rendering and imagery of concepts and designs.
Must have experience on large-scale projects.
Must be able to lead a team on projects and make client presentations.
Extensive knowledge and experience within the local and regional market.
Proven business development and client interaction experience.
Strong team leadership, mentoring, motivational/organizational and people skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be willing to travel.
