The mission of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is the development of professional health care practitioners through innovation, individualized, and quality classroom, clinical, and distance education.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Works as part of a team of librarians supporting educational, clinical, research, and administrative activities at the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS). Responsibilities include teaching, expert literature searching, reference services, resource guides, web content creation, and clinical, data, and research support for students, faculty, and staff.
This position manages all campus library activities, supervises staff, maintains resources, and ensures an optimal environment. It is a 100% onsite role in St. Augustine, FL.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct students in information literacy, evidence-based practice, and research processes.
- Create instructional materials in various formats for diverse audiences.
- Lead library instruction planning and collaborate with faculty and program directors.
- Conduct classes and workshops on health sciences resources and services.
- Collaborate to plan, deliver, and assess library and instructional services.
- Provide evidence-based practice and information literacy instruction.
- Perform advanced professional library work in graduate disciplines.
- Support inclusive and accessible programming aligned with strategic priorities.
- Engage in bibliographic searches and evidence synthesis reviews.
- Consult on research projects with students and faculty.
- Assess library needs of users.
- Train patrons on electronic resources and citation tools like PubMed, ProQuest, CINAHL, Cochrane, DynaMed, etc.
- Serve as Library Liaison for designated departments.
- Guide compliance with scholarly communities and deposit research outputs into SOAR@ USA.
- Stay aware of innovative technologies such as 3D printers and virtual reality.
- Manage collection development and cataloging tasks.
- Teach information literacy through various instructional methods.
- Work with faculty to integrate library resources into courses.
- Monitor chat and email inquiries, process resource requests, and maintain online content.
- Participate in professional and university committees, and contribute to projects and strategic plans.
- Supervise library staff and troubleshoot technology issues.
- Orient new students, manage borrower records, and enforce policies.
- Contribute to library projects and long-term planning.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to travel.
MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises Assistant Librarian and/or student workers.
POSITION IN ORGANIZATION:
REPORTS TO: Director of Library Services
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Assistant Librarian, Student workers
TECHNICAL, MANAGERIAL, AND PEOPLE SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Excellent computer skills and adaptability to new software.
- Self-directed with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and multitask.
- Professional demeanor and supervisory experience.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Masters in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
- At least two years of library experience, preferably in health sciences or healthcare environment, including relevant library systems, cataloging, reference, literature searching, collection development, instruction, and literacy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily office setting with exposure to moderate noise. Involves computer use and physical activities typical of office work.
