Job Summary/Function:
The Marketing and Communications Specialist's primary duty is to oversee all communications and marketing for YWCA NENY. This responsibility involves strategically creating and coordinating YWCA NENY's marketing plan to promote the YWCA's mission and encourage fundraising towards our programs and services.
Reports to: Chief Development Officer (CDO)
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
FLSA Category: Full-time, Exempt
Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 Annually
Essentials Duties:
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote the YWCA NENY's mission and messaging through media platforms.
- Collaborate with the CDO and fundraising team in branding, theme creation, messaging and final review of outgoing materials for fundraising campaigns, including appeals and newsletter blasts.
- Assist the CDO to create sponsorship forms, campaign mailings, and other outgoing fundraising materials.
- Evaluate campaign marketing performance and key metrics to refine strategies and act as a thought partner to advance the YWCA NENY's narrative and protect YWCA NENY's reputation.
- Collaborate with CDO and Directors to create and manage marketing campaigns, website content, and materials for YWCA NENY'S events and programs, ensuring alignment with fundraising efforts.
- Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing media channels through networking and prospecting.
- Promote events through social media, newsletters, and public relations, aligning messaging with the agency's mission and fundraising campaigns.
- Manage social media to enhance YWCA NENY's brand through engaging posts and active online interaction.
- Direct public relations, employee communications, CEO communications, and crisis communications.
- Understand the media environment, pitch the YWCA NENY's narrative, and associate human-interest stories to the appropriate channels.
- Collaborate with the HR Director in efforts to promote YWCA NENY as the best place to work.
- Develop and manage annual marketing calendar, serving as team project manager to advance YWCA initiatives.
- Participate in staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or related field required.
- At least 4 years of experience in nonprofits, corporate communications, or media relations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, Constant Contact, WordPress, and Hootsuite.
- Strong storytelling and content creation skills, with experience in social media analytics.
- Proven success in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Lift up to 20 pounds
- Frequent sitting, standing, bending, speaking and computer usage
- Complete role required checks.
- Clean NYS Driving license and ability to use own vehicle for work-related travel
