Overview
The VP reports to the Executive Vice President, Chief of Global Content Protection (the "EVP") located in MPA's Los Angeles Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the EVP by identifying global trends defining how Internet users consume audiovisual content online.
- Develop strategies to tackle the distribution of illegal content.
- Coordinate global enforcement projects.
- Monitor and report on trends in Internet content distribution methods and consumer electronics that may impact audiovisual content delivery.
- Manage and supervise a team of approximately 20 managers and investigators.
- Conduct detailed forensic analysis of online content, including reviewing technical infrastructure of online platforms, sites, and specific devices.
- Work with the different levels of Law Enforcement organizations.
- Be an expert witness in technical criminal and civil cases.
- Be a forensic expert and witness in technical criminal and civil cases.
- Generate, manipulate, and analyze large datasets comprised of both internally generated information and data provided by various third-party resources.
- Manage and coordinate complex Internet investigations around the globe.
- Manage and coordinate these complex Internet investigations with the studio content protection teams and get their approval for the right course of action.
- Train the global content protection staff on new investigative tools and tactics and forensics
- Present, both orally and in writing, well-reasoned and comprehensive reports to senior management at MPA/ACE and their members
- Create and revise business processes and applications used to streamline department operations; manage the Internet-related elements of the creation and revision of business processes and applications serving the organization on a larger scale.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Master's degree in digital Forensics and/or Information Technology and/or Computer Science.
- Educational background and/or prior employment experience in business, computer science, digital media, media research or equivalent.
- Prior employment experience of minimum ten years involving online media or entertainment related research and data analytics.
Qualifications
- Integrity and Confidentiality: Must possess the highest level of work ethics and integrity with the ability to maintain confidential information.
- Forensic and Investigative Analysis: Ability to collect and analyze evidence in a forensically sound manner, including detailed forensic analysis of online content and infrastructure. Proficient in OSINT and investigative techniques to uncover and track digital piracy activities.
- Data Management and Analysis: Demonstrated expertise in generating, manipulating, and analyzing large datasets with high accuracy. Proficiency in using analytics tools to monitor, detect, and respond to piracy activities.
- Internet Navigation and Content Distribution: Proficient in swiftly searching the Internet, navigating complex websites, and manipulating online media files. Strong experience with online content distribution methods, including streaming video, online file hosting, peer-to-peer sharing, and understanding digital piracy trends like IPTV, illegal streaming, and direct downloads.
- Technical Skills: Strong experience with website design, development, and operation. In-depth understanding of HTML, XML, website analytics, and illegal digital distribution models. Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, digital rights management (DRM) technologies, and strategies to protect against unauthorized access and distribution.
- Programming Skills: Python, JavaScript, and/or other programming capabilities to automate evidence gathering and support investigative efforts.
- Internet Infrastructure: Comprehensive knowledge of the internet's technical infrastructure, including ISPs, domain names, IP addresses, hosting providers, DNS (Domain Name System), and IP addressing.
- Communication and Reporting: Strong ability to clearly communicate complex project elements and draft highly technical or detailed business reports for executives and stakeholders with minimal oversight.
- Problem Solving and Independence: Advanced work ethic and creative problem-solving skills, including the ability to work well with minimal supervision and guidance. Demonstrated experience distilling research on complex subjects into actionable insights.
- Legal and Technical Interface: Capability to bridge the gap between legal enforcement strategies and technical solutions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to IP protection.
- Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of managing and motivating a sizable team toward achieving strategic objectives. Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Strategic Planning and Global Coordination: Proven experience in strategic planning and global strategy development. Skilled in coordinating complex global projects, with a keen understanding of how to navigate international legal and regulatory landscapes.
