The American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s leading trade and lobby association representing the trucking industry, is actively seeking a detail-oriented and professional Information Manager.
The Information Manager is the key Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) staff member responsible for collecting, producing, and disseminating industry news relevant to Council members. This technical writing and production position also keeps the trucking industry informed of news and developments within TMC. The role involves working with membership, press, government contacts, and industry and manufacturing contacts related to the trucking industry, especially maintenance and technology issues. The position may interact with Council members, government agencies such as DOT, NHTSA, FMCSA, the press, ATA organizations, outside vendors, and other ATA staff. This role does not have supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.
The incumbent is expected to adhere to company policies, promote a team-based environment, demonstrate flexible and efficient time management, and prioritize workload effectively. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism is essential. Punctuality and preparedness are required.
This position requires onsite work on Mondays and Tuesdays, with an encouraged third day in the office. Additional in-office days may be necessary during busy periods such as before TMC’s Fall and Annual meetings. Travel to these meetings is expected.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- Writing, editing, and producing publications such as TMC Fleet Adviser, Fleet Maintenance & Technology, The Trailblazer, and the Exhibit Directory & Industry Reference Guide in print and electronic formats, utilizing relevant software and editorial skills.
- Contributing to the council’s image/photo/video library, including creating videos for online broadcasts, e-blasts, website postings, and other channels.
- Supporting the execution of council meetings, events, and the development of council products and reports, which are significant revenue sources for TMC.
- Soliciting advertisers for the Exhibit Directory & Industry Reference Guide and council magazine.
- Maintaining the council’s website and social media platforms (e.g., TMC Connect, Facebook) using tools like Microsoft SharePoint and Higher Logic, including posting stories, images, and videos.
- Writing, editing, producing, and disseminating press releases in coordination with ATA’s Office of Public Affairs to promote council news and events.
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS in Journalism or a related field required. 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Apple iMovie/Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to translate technical material for a broad audience. Knowledge of the automotive or commercial vehicle/trucking industry is a plus but not required.
Professional certification is not required.
