Position Summary
AILEY is seeking a
Director of Marketing
to lead brand management, creative direction, content creation, audience development, customer service, multi-channel marketing strategy, and promotion, as well as drive sales and revenue growth for the organization.
The
Director of Marketing
will manage a team of experienced marketers, digital and social media producers, designers, a web manager, and a sales team, along with outside consultants. The role will oversee marketing efforts for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, The Ailey School, Ailey Extension, and Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs. Additionally, the Director will oversee the management of ticket sales for AILEY's four annual engagements in New York and Atlanta and coordinate sales and promotions with local presenters for national and international tours.
The
Director of Marketing
will play a key role in institutional initiatives, including branding, the transition to Salesforce, the launch of AILEY's new Artistic Director, and the organization of creative resources and data analysis. This position will also collaborate with internal leadership to develop new revenue streams, including strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities :
Maximize AILEY's marketing potential by leading a skilled, empowered, and motivated team, providing inspiring leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members. Partner with the Executive Director to review current staffing structure and determine opportunities and needs. Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive, forward-thinking marketing strategy that effectively communicates the refreshed AILEY brand and its institutional mission, highlighting and promoting all key areas of the organization-including performances, professional training, dance instruction, and education and community outreach. Develop and execute creative marketing campaigns, including media plans for digital, mobile, and social media advertising, organic social media content, and collateral materials that maximize institutional awareness, drive audience development, and achieve revenue goals for AAADT's annual self-produced seasons in New York and Atlanta, Ailey II's New York engagement, and national and international tours for both companies. Collaborate with the Artistic Directors, the Executive Director, and other AILEY leadership, and work closely with local presenters to ensure consistent and effective brand representation. Conceive and manage the review and approval process and oversee the execution of the annual department budget. Develop and execute effective sales plans to maximize attendance and ticket sales revenue, including pricing strategies such as demand-based pricing and group sales. Budget for and consistently meet or exceed revenue targets. Lead the department's transition to Salesforce, including marketing automation for AILEY's website, e-comms, and social media; identify ROI potential of cross-departmental data; and explore synergies within the various internal business models. Collaborate with the Development and Public Relations teams to create synergies, unifying digital content and design resources, reducing redundancies, and maximizing new collaborative, revenue-generating opportunities such as strategic partnerships, e-commerce, and licensing. Minimum Qualifications :
Experienced marketing executive with 10 to 15 years of proven success in leading marketing strategies within consumer-driven organizations. Demonstrated expertise in strengthening an organization's profile through integrated brand messaging and positioning, including the development of innovative marketing and promotional campaigns, advertising, and collateral materials. Experience navigating complex, multi-layered organizations with lean resources, where influencing and collaboration are essential to achieving results. While prior non-profit experience is not required, experience in driving change within a mission-driven environment is a plus. A successful track record of identifying, attracting, and retaining customers, along with experience in building new revenue streams, such as brand partnerships and e-commerce. Strong familiarity with ticketing systems, CRM platforms, and strategies to maximize attendance. Comfortable with both traditional and non-traditional marketing approaches, with a proven record of success in executing multi-channel strategies. Personal Characteristics:

Able to quickly earn the respect and cooperation of key stakeholders and inspire a high level of energy and enthusiasm within the team. A skilled listener and team player with the ability to work closely with diverse internal constituencies, approach challenges with a flexible mindset, and understand different perspectives before proposing solutions. Creative, entrepreneurial, and innovative in approach. High-energy, proactive, open-minded, with a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor. Compensation:
$175,000 to $200,000
