The Role
Do you have experience leading contemporary worship music? Are you skilled in directing musicians and vocalists to create a meaningful worship experience? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.
We are looking for a dedicated Music Director to lead our Protestant Contemporary Service, working closely with the Senior Protestant Chaplain to ensure high-quality worship music that enhances our services.
As the Protestant Service Music Director, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading worship music for our Protestant Contemporary Service. Working with the Senior Protestant Chaplain, you will select and arrange music that aligns with the vision of the service.
This is a part-time position, working on average 4 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and provide music for the Protestant Contemporary Service. Work alongside the Senior Protestant Chaplain to plan and coordinate worship services, including special events. Direct and support the Worship Team in rehearsals and performances. Select and distribute songs to the Worship Team at least 24 hours before rehearsal. Conduct weekly rehearsals on a day separate from the worship service. Assist with setting up and packing away musical equipment as needed.
The Person
Has a strong understanding of Protestant worship traditions. Has experience in worship planning and directing music teams. Can play at least one musical instrument, with a preference for keyboard or guitar. Can read sheet music (preferred) or chords (acceptable). Has excellent vocal ability and can confidently lead congregational singing. Can build and support a team of volunteer musicians and vocalists. Is comfortable performing a wide range of contemporary worship music. Provides references from previous roles in music ministry.
