CalWest's client school seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Music Educator to join their team starting August 2025. Please note that applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. as we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate music classes for Lower School students.
- Provide electives for middle school students each quarter, including two quarters focused on musical theater and two additional music-related classes you can design.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment fostering meaningful relationships with all students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support students' social-emotional and academic growth through effective communication.
- Develop and implement a balanced music education curriculum encompassing singing, instrumental music, creative movement, and performance.
- Adapt the curriculum to meet diverse student needs.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback via report cards at the end of each quarter.
- Plan, rehearse, and direct students in school performances, such as the winter program, talent show, and graduation, in partnership with the Movement teacher.
- Work collaboratively with other Specialty Team members to address student needs and encourage cross-curricular collaboration.
- Participate actively in the production of the annual musical theater, offering leadership and assistance throughout the process.
- Engage in school-wide activities, including division and faculty/staff meetings and events throughout the year.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in music with the ability to sing and play multiple instruments.
- A strong commitment to creating a joyful and innovative learning environment for students.
- Ability to cultivate an inclusive classroom community where every student feels safe, valued, and respected.
- Knowledge of best practices in music education for lower and middle school students.
- Understanding of the significance of social-emotional development and its application within the music classroom.
- Skill in recognizing students' strengths, challenges, and interests to effectively engage and motivate all learners.
Preferred:
- Valid teaching credential.
- Master's Degree in Music or Education is a plus.
- Experience working with children in grades 2-8 who may learn differently.
