Job SummaryThe Villa Rica Public Library seeks a person who is passionate about literacy, community, and customer service to join our team. This position is focused on serving patrons at the front desk, but will also include program support, helping patrons with computer questions, and problem-solving when needs arise. We are looking for someone who wants to build their resume and grow their skills in a positive work environment. Job duties include:
- Help patrons check out materials at the circulation desk
- Provide accurate, friendly, and efficient customer service
- Assist with programs and program development
- Offer book and material recommendations to patrons
- Answer computer questions for patrons
- Help patrons find materials and services
- Shelve and retrieve materials
- Other duties as assigned
Position includes evening and Saturday hours. Can work up to 15 hours per week at $15.00 per hour.
The West Community Student Engagement Program (WCSE) is designed to engage University of West Georgia (UWG) Federal Work Study (FWS) students in improving quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to address issues such as literacy, social services, housing, neighborhood improvement, public safety, recreation, at-risk youth and community improvement.
Required Qualifications- Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average.
- Good typing/filing skills and basic computer skills
- Employment is contingent upon passing a background check.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, lift and carry 35 pounds
- Push loaded book carts without assistance.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to interact effectively and courteously with the public while delivering services
- Ability to perform a variety of clerical tasks
- Enjoy working with multicultural populations, especially children
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work independently on assigned projects
