Who are We? Jackbox is a small game studio (~80 people) best known for our Jackbox Party Pack franchise: a set of five social party games released every fall. Since 2014, our games--like Quiplash, Drawful, and Trivia Murder Party-- have been featured on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, by Polygon, and in living rooms and finished basements across the world. In 2020, we had over 200 million users. And we have hard evidence that one of those users was Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron. You can learn everything you ever wanted to know about how our games work (spoiler: your phone is the controller!) and who we are and what we make at jackboxgames.com. What’s the Job? The Jackbox Games Marketing Team is bursting with opportunities and challenges as more people than ever are discovering our games! We are releasing more new games every year and we have big ambitions to turn more of our IP into games recognized and enjoyed by households across the United States and beyond. We are looking for an experienced Email Marketing Contractor who can work hand-in-hand with our marketing team members to assess our current email strategy, propose optimizations, and help us execute on them. This person will work closely with our team to improve email revenue, increase overall subscribers, and help us build out personalized email journeys for our fanbase. We would like this person to initially come in and analyze performance of our email campaigns in the past year, identify areas of strength and areas of weakness, and deliver a proposal on how we can improve our email marketing in an efficient way throughout our launch and holiday season. In the back half of this engagement, we would like this person to be boots on the ground with us building out email campaigns, especially personalized journeys based on subscriber information and actions they are taking within our email messages. This person will take the first stab at drafting copy for emails but will be supported by our marketing editorial team, led by our Senior Marketing Manager. Building out the actual emails in our EMS tool will be the biggest priority. This contractor needs to be lightly proficient in graphic design to help create simple assets for our campaigns.
Responsibilities Review previous email & SMS campaign performance and identify what’s working and not working with our current strategy Deliver a high-level proposal for recommended changes to our strategy moving forward Analyze the health of our domain and our audience lists and propose/help execute on actions we might take to address any issues Review our email & SMS automations against the proposed strategy and (with approval) help make changes and edits to those emails & SMS Identify and execute on new automations we may want to consider Identify opportunities for personalized drip campaigns based on customer interactions and help build those campaigns Assist with the drafting, asset creation, and building of emails & SMS that align with our editorial calendar Assist with new subscriber acquisition efforts for email & SMS programs
Ideal Candidates Will Have... At least 5+ years of relevant experience. New grads need not apply. Proficiency in email & SMS marketing platforms, especially Listrak Strong copywriting skills Basic graphic design capabilities, especially using Adobe Creative Cloud Knowledge of email
& SMS marketing regulations and best practices Understanding of how to track and analyze campaign performance metrics A team player mindset. Our marketing department intersects with almost every other department in our company and you will need to be able to work effectively both on your own and as part of a larger group. A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality. We have a very entrepreneurial, get-it-done culture that takes pride in our strong work ethic and low tolerance for micromanaging or posturing.
We value kind, motivated, and creative people. Jackbox Games is a group effort and you must work collaboratively. Everyone here is committed to excellence and desires to work in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. Jackbox Games is committed to providing opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, creed, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, ancestry, age, veteran status, or disability. HOW TO APPLY Submit your resume and portfolio (if applicable) Submit a cover letter that highlights any email automations that you have configured in the past and/or the most successful email marketing campaign you have ideated and executed on. We weigh cover letters heavily. We know it is a time commitment to prepare an application and we respect that effort by thoughtfully reviewing every complete application and responding one way or the other. But that kind of thoughtful review means that it sometimes takes us a while to get back to applicants, so please be patient with us and no phone calls. Thanks for your interest in Jackbox Games! F.A.Q. I'm not sure if I'm qualified. Should I apply? We would much rather read your application than miss out on a great candidate, so please err on the side of applying. If you are passionate about games and are a Content Marketing Specialist, give it a shot! The worst thing that happens is you don't get the job, but we promise you're not wasting our time. What if I’m too qualified and have extensive work experience? You should still apply. We are looking for the best candidates and we will adjust responsibilities (and compensation) to match your experience.
