ASSYST is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Media Specialist to support the Montgomery County Police Department’s Public Information Office (PIO). This position involves coordinating, producing, and managing video content that enhances the Department's outreach and communication efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in video production, excellent organizational skills, and the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic schedule.

Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate video shoots with both sworn and unsworn staff, the Public Information Office, and IMTD technical teams.
- Plan, film, and edit high-quality video content for various purposes.
- Manage projects related to video shoots, podcasts, documentaries, and other media formats.
- Coordinate resources required for recordings, block time on schedules, and provide routine communication to keep all stakeholders informed.
- Oversee the approval process for the release of videos, podcasts, and episodes.
- Maintain video equipment to ensure it remains in optimal working condition.
- Provide lighting and sound support for video productions.
- Make recommendations to the Deputy Director and Director of Information Management & Technology regarding procurement of additional video equipment as necessary.
- Train centralized and decentralized support staff on video production best practices and techniques.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in video production, including filming, editing, and post-production.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and resources.
- Knowledge of video equipment maintenance and operation, including lighting and sound systems.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends, based on project demands.
- Experience in managing approvals and ensuring the quality of media content for public release.
Additional Requirements:
- The ability to adapt to a fluid workload; weekly hours will vary depending on scheduled activities.
- Commitment to providing high-quality media support for Montgomery County Police’s public communications.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in public safety or government communication settings is a plus.
- Familiarity with podcast production and documentary filmmaking.
