Job Title: Specialist, Technical Writing Job ID: 20487 Job Location: Greenville Job Schedule: 9/80 Job Description: A Specialist, Technical Writer within the Technical Editing group is tasked with a range of responsibilities that include reviewing flight and maintenance manuals for airborne and ground-based mission systems. This role involves a thorough examination of operational procedures, such as the theory of operations, troubleshooting, fault isolation, testing, and repair processes. Additionally, the individual will assess training courseware development materials to ensure accuracy and clarity. The Technical Writer is also responsible for the review of maintenance manuals covering multiple aircraft and ground systems. These systems encompass flight deck communication systems, radar and navigation systems, flight display systems, electronic flight instruments, flight management systems, terrain awareness and warning systems, mission systems, maintenance training systems, and ground processing systems. The role requires reviewing of block diagrams, illustrations, text, and theory of operation, as well as troubleshooting, test, and repair procedures. Furthermore, the editor must possess the ability to interpret engineering drawings, wire lists, schematics, hardware specifications, software requirements specifications, software interface control documents, test procedures, and conduct interviews with engineering personnel to ensure the technical documentation is precise, comprehensive, and meets professional/MIL standards. Essential Functions: Works under general supervision and may be responsible for entire programs. Responsible for making minor changes in processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of approaches and routines being utilized. Problems are typically solved through advanced education or past experience. Qualifications: Requires practical knowledge of technical writing, training, or editing processes and procedures Applicant must be able to obtain a security clearance. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ associate’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Proficient with MS Office products Proficient with Adobe Acrobat. Preferred Additional Skills: Familiarity with VC-25, C32, C40, and/or RC135 Rivet Joint aircraft. Familiarity with Mil-Std 38784 Familiar knowledge of FrameMaker, S1000D, XML, Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator software applications. Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate orally and in written form. Effective organizational skills.
