Overview
Manage and mentor staff of design engineers as part of a Design Team. Demonstrate the ability to properly scope municipal capital projects from concept through construction. Forecast project timelines, prepare schedule for staff and meet deadlines for multiple projects at a time. Possess the ability to find solutions to design issues regarding site constraints, applicable regulations, budgets, and timing. Oversee and manage the design and bidding of capital improvement projects including but not limited to roadways, athletic fields and courts, site layouts, stormwater mitigation, erosion mitigation and utility extensions. Perform site investigations & due diligence including the research of utility services, determination of applicability of outside agency regulations, review of ordinances and performance of site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines. Provide oversight and knowledge to guide the design of roadways, including horizontal and vertical geometry, modes of pavement failure and application of industry standards, as well as the MUTCD, AASHTO and the NJDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Provide oversight and knowledge to guide stormwater management designs and apply regulations in NJ. Provide oversight and knowledge to guide grading designs to ensure value engineering is achieved through earthwork analysis, and site safety is accomplished through the use of appropriate design slopes. Oversee the preparation of construction specifications, public bid documents and construction cost estimates for municipal and public sector clients. Qualifications: Minimum 7-10 years of design experience PE preferred or EIT on path to PE Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred or sufficient knowledge of software to effectively manage others Experience managing and supervising the work efforts of assigned staff regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget of projects Ability to track and oversee multiple projects at a time Effective written and verbal communication skills Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team What We Offer: At Colliers Engineering & Design, our people are our most important resource.
