Library Director at Royalton Hartland Community Library
The Royalton Hartland Community Library in Middleport, NY seeks an enthusiastic, friendly, innovative Part-Time Senior Library Clerk who is passionate about technology, social media and marketing! This position will be responsible for circulation services, technical services, and various community marketing/outreach opportunities. The Royalton Hartland Community Library serves the same geographic area as the Royalton Hartland Central School District and is committed to providing excellent public services to patrons.
This position reports to the Library Director.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Circulation Services
- Performs circulation routine, answers phones, responds appropriately and directs calls.
- Processes and catalogs materials.
- Sorts and shelves materials, including shelf-reading and maintaining organization of shelves.
- Provides reference help, including computer and tech support to patrons. Assist patrons with printing, scanning and fax services.
- Attends appropriate meetings and trainings.
- Perform opening and closing procedures for the library.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Library Director.
Technical Services
- Schedules/conducts one-on-one “Book a Technology Trainer” appointments.
- Maintains proper functioning of library equipment including computer, laptop, iPad and Chromebook updates.
- Troubleshoots technology and considers future technological updates and suggests new equipment to the Director as needed.
- Updates the library’s website and maintains a vibrant, welcoming digital presence of the library.
- Assists with programming and events for patrons of all ages.
- Participates in outreach events and brings the library to various community events with the Director.
- Works on collection management projects. Withdraws materials with Director approval, maintains record keeping and data of magazine subscriptions, suggests renewals of magazine subscriptions.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a customer service role.
- Flexibility in schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Strong technology skills including comfort with computers, smartphones, and other devices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with various technologies and IT-related systems.
- Previous experience working in a library.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and desire to work well with the public and as a cooperative member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks independently and collaboratively.
- Exhibits enthusiasm, creativity, resourcefulness, adaptability, and motivation to learn and grow.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks associated with the day-to-day services of the library.
Physical Demands
- Physical ability to lift and bend.
- Ability to push and steer a fully loaded book cart (40lbs).
$16.50 per hour
Sick time: one-hour accrual for every 30 hours worked starting after 6 months of employment.
Eligible for PTO hours after one year of employment.
Optional SIMPLE IRA enrollment with employer contribution (3%) after one year of employment.
Hours
23-29 hours per week, including rotating Saturdays.
