Job Opportunity: Designer at Idaho National Laboratory
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Designer to work in our Design and Drafting department. Our team operates on a 9x80 schedule at our Research and Education Campus, with every other Friday off.
The role involves applying multi-disciplined designing skills to create new computer-generated designs and modify drawings to support engineering activities. The Designer will report to the manager of the Design and Drafting department.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the design team to develop complete design/CAD models compliant with applicable codes, standards, and project constraints for nuclear facilities.
- Supporting drafting checks for experiment drawings, including mechanical, electrical, piping, and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs).
- Participating in the selection of nuclear components, specifications, and acceptance criteria, ensuring proper documentation for end-use.
- Checking drawings for Fit, Form, and Function across all complexity levels.
- Providing design guidance to engineering and supporting teams.
- Managing work efforts of drafting personnel for cost-effective project execution.
- Mentoring peers in multi-disciplinary design skills and techniques.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Level 2: Bachelor’s degree + 2 years relevant experience, or advanced degree/8 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Level 3: Bachelor’s degree + 5 years experience, or advanced degree + 2 years, or 11 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience with Archibus overlay in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Experience designing telecommunications layouts including wire/ladder tray placement and data jack layouts.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and drafting practices.
Job Details:
- Pay Range: Level 2 ($65,064 - $133,416) / Level 3 ($77,628 - $159,228). Compensation based on education, experience, and credentials.
- This is a multi-level posting; placement depends on experience and skills.
